By April, the Average Temperature in Orlando is 83 Degrees. It doesn’t drop that low again until October. Through the Winter Months the average Temperatures are still in the 70’s. This makes Walt Disney World a comfortable place in the winter, and sometimes unbearable in the summer. People try to beat the heat of the summer in many different ways. Shopping in the air conditioning, the Water Parks and of course the Unknown Magic that is the Resort Pool.

Most people would think that a Resort in Orlando would have a pool, so how is this an Unknown Magic? Well, The Disney Pools, like the Resorts themselves are anything but ordinary. As it was mentioned before (The post of 4/26: “Check It Out After Checking In”) all of the Resorts have a special theme. The Main Pool at each resort reflect this theme. For first time visitors and others, these Pools are full of excitement and a great place to cool off.

All the resorts do have something in common, when it comes to the Pools. There is a Main Pool and then Quiets Pools placed around the Resort. The Main Pool is themed to complement the Resort’s theme. For Example at the Beach Club, the Pool is called Stormalong Bay. The slide for the pool looks like an old Sunken Vessel and the bottom of the Pool is sand. The Quiet pools are very nice. There is no theme to them, they are just pools, with chairs and tables around them and usually a towel supply. There are not lifeguards at the Quiet Pools. The Main Pools at each resort are amazing. No matter which level of Resort you are staying in, Disney makes the Pool a Magical Experience.

For Example; Luna Park at The Boardwalk Resort, is structured as a Boardwalk amusement pier. The slide looks like an old wooden Roller Coaster, called the Keister Coaster. At the end of the slide, before splashing down into the water, you go through a clowns mouth. The area is also decorated with Dancing Elephant showers and the Pool Bar “Leaping Horse Libations” looks like a Boardwalk carousel.

The Main Pool at Port Orleans French Quarter is known as Doubloon Lagoon. It is It has what looks like an iguana as the slide, Alligators squirting water and Giant Clamshells all colored in turquoise and pinks. The Pool Bar here is Mardi Grogs.
The Calypso Pool, at the All-Star Music Resort, is shaped like a guitar. In the middle of the pool, the Three Caballeros
(José Carioca, Donald Duck and Panchito Pistoles) shoot water at you as you swim by. You can even get yourself something to drink at Singing Spirits, which is the Pool Bar here.

As you can see the Pools at all the Resorts offer about the same experiences, with a different theme. Even with that said though, some of the pools are even more amazing than others. Storm-a-long Bay at the Beach Club Resort is a sand bottomed Pool with a lazy river surrounding it. It is a mini water park all by itself. The Volcano Pool at the Polynesian Resort is pretty cool, too. I especially like the Pool at the Wilderness Lodge that looks like it is supplied by a natural spring and has it’s own Geyser.

The real Unknown Magic of the Resort pools is that the Quiet Pools are just as clean, warm and enjoyable as the main pools. And most of the time, there isn’t anyone else at them. We have swam in the afternoon by ourselves at a Quiet Pool,  which is really nice, when you are trying to get away fro the crowds for the afternoon and spend some family time. You can also swim here later in the evening, without anyone else being around. A very romantic way to end a day. Or you can start the day here with young children and new swimmers and not have to worry about too many people swimming around them and making them nervous.

So, now that you know, The Disney Resort Main Pools offer a Magical Experience, by the design and theme, But the Quiet Pools can offer another kind of Magical Experience, one that your family can enjoy together as you relax, swim and enjoy each other’s company.
