A 250 horsepower, ride that goes 0-60 mph in 8.8 seconds. A vehicle that has 22 wheels and 6 braking systems, which has more computer processing power than the space shuttle. Has to be a new car or maybe even a plane or something right? No, it’s not. It is actually the “5-minute, high-octane thrill ride that takes guests through a series of vehicle prototype tests on what is one of Disney’s longest, fastest rides.” Today I bring to you the Unknown Magic of Test Track.

Before you get to ride Test Track, you have to wind your way through the pre-ride area. You will pass crash dummies in different states of use and destruction. There is a section for knee and leg impacts. A crash dummy being bashed by a huge ramming pole. This area is noisy and very action packed. It is very neat to see all the different tools and parts as you are walking through the queue. There are Hidden Mickeys located in the pre-show, so as you are walking through, keep your eyes open.

When you finally get through the queue, you enter into a prep-room. In the prep-room, you see pictures of different GM test areas all over the world. There are also monitors that show a control room. The people in the control room address you and explain to you that you are going to be testing the new vehicles. They talk about what tests they are going to send you through and then send you out to get in your vehicle and start the tests. This part of the attraction is pretty neat, because if you have the chance to look at the pictures on the wall, you will see some neat test tracks and the parts they took form them to make this attraction.

After you are strapped in, the ride vehicle goes through different tests that they actually would use if this were a real test vehicle. Things such as the incline climb, the suspension check, braking with and without ABS, and environmental conditioning. Then you start the ride and handling test that has a small surprise involved and then you head out through the wall and hit the speed test. This is where you can get as fast as 65 miles an hour. What an exciting way to end a great ride!

Test Track is my son’s favorite attraction in Walt Disney World. He says it is because it’s cool and unique. We think it’s because he thinks it’s like driving a car, especially when you sit in the front seat. It is a pretty neat ride, which can create a Magical Experience for you and your family, because although it does have the speed of a thrill ride, it isn’t really a roller coaster. For first time visitors, I highly recommend going on Test Track. It is one of the attractions that you see only smiles as people are getting off mainly because it is a fun and exciting attraction. I also recommend getting a FastPass for the ride.

So, now you know, there is a non-rollercoaster thrill ride in Epcot that you can go on to enjoy a Magical Experience. As you walk through the queue to get on the ride there are some neat things to see, but the real thrills come from the ride’s surprises. So become a Test Dummy and Enjoy the Speed.
