I like beer. I’ve stated that before. I also like bars. I like bars that are on the bay, that you can actually watch the sun go down from a table in the sand. I like corner bars where everybody knows your name. I especially like bars that serve a variety of beer, are small and intimate and have good bartenders. The Crew’s Cup Lounge is such a place.

The Crew’s Cup is located in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, next to the Yachtsman Steakhouse. It isn’t very large and is usually used as a waiting area for people that are eating at the steakhouse. Besides the bar and the tables, there are sofas and chairs that you can sit at while you wait for your reservation time. We have sat in the Crew’s Cup waiting for a table in the steakhouse, but we have also enjoyed this wonderful little lounge during the afternoon and it is a great place for a drink.

The room itself has a lot of wood throughout. The motif is a sailing one which ties in nicely with the Yacht Club, but it isn’t overly masculine where my wife was uncomfortable. The wood in this instance is very comfortable and make it seem more like a woodsy/cabin type atmosphere. The bar in the Crew’s Cup is not huge, but it is a good size for the size of the room. The one time I sat at the bar, the bartender was
wonderful, and made our visit even that much better. They do have many different choices of beer and since it is a full bar, you can get basically any drink you want.

The menu changes from lunch to dinner, with the dinner menu not only being more expensive, but much more extravagant; not only can you get a Yachtsman Filet Mignon or Braised Beef Ravioli, but you can also get Truffle Mac and Cheese as a side dish. The lunch menu is more your “Bar Food” type of choices, with wings, nachos and spinach dips as well as burgers and other sandwiches. No matter when you eat though, the food is very good.

With this lounge being in Walt Disney World, there are many other places you can go for better food, so why go to the Crew’s Cup? The atmosphere. It is a great little cozy bar. I sat at the bar once for a few hours and enjoyed a really nice afternoon, of relaxing conversation and good drink. We have also eaten here for lunch as a family and we all enjoyed the quietness in the middle of the day (of course when the Yachtsman Steakhouse is open and people are waiting for their tables it isn’t really that quiet). This is one of those Unknown Magics that you need to search out when you are in Disney World. It is a great place to get away from the noise and the crowds of they parks. It is just a short walk from Epcot. You just leave

through The International Gateway Entrance (in between Great Britain and France) and walk past the Beach Club to the Yacht Club Resort. So, next time you are thinking of a drink or a nice quiet place for some lunch, try the Crew’s Cup, it is well worth the walk.

>In a recent post, we talked about traveling to Disney with teenagers. If you are lucky enough to have a trustworthy teenager (or two) as I am, Or if your child has a friend that is in Disney World the same time you are, or you’re with a group that you can break away from, Then today’s Unknown Magic is for you. The reason you need this set up, is because for you and your spouse, this will be a relaxing Magical Experience, but for the kids, some of this may very well be boring!

This Magical Experience starts in a quiet out of the way place at the Yacht Club Resort. It is called the Crew’s Cup. The Crew’s Cup is a peaceful little lounge next door to the Yachtsman Steak House. It is a cozy little place, but they have many different kinds of beer and a full bar. There are a couple televisions, and the walls are lined with booths, and there might be 8 tables in the center of the room (I’ve never counted), not big by any stretch of the imagination, and before the dinner hours, not crowded. They do have a small menu for snacks and lunch, which is your basic bar food, but the Dinner menu includes, Filet, sirloin and ravioli. The Crew’s Cup is a great place to go to just have an intimate little snack, and enjoy some alone time together.

The Crew’s Cup is not the only lounge of this type in Walt Disney World, although it probably is one of the quietest, because of its location. Another quiet spot for a cozy drink is the Belle Vue Room in the Boardwalk Resort. This little area, it’s not really a room of its own, is off the hallway to the right as you first enter the Boardwalk’s front doors. It is a very inviting area, as it is filled with sofas and over-stuffed chairs and the bar is off to one side of the room. It is open from 5 in the afternoon until mid-night. They serve pretzels and nuts, but no real food. This is a neat place to have a drink, because they have an old time radio that plays Classic Radio Shows. There is also a selection of board games that you can borrow and play while you’re sitting there. Because of the games, this would be a place that you can take the kids with you and enjoying a Magical family Experience.

Other places you can have a Magical family Experience, where you can also get a drink, are the Pool Bars. All the Disney Resorts main pools all have a Pool Bar located around them. As mentioned in an earlier post, they fill the Resort Refillable mugs, but also have full bar selections. Most of these bars have a very small area for patrons to actually sit at the bar, so it is cozy. This is a nice place to have a drink, because even if you have children (not your teenage variety) you can have them go in the pool, you are close enough to keep an eye on them, they will know where you are and you can still have a grown-up conversation with your mate. My favorite pool bar is the Mardi Grogs at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort. The drinks at all of the bars are the same and the Staff of course is friendly, after all it is Disney.

So, now you know, you can find a nice cozy place for you and your love to have a drink and a Magical Experience.
