So, when we went to Disney last week, we went with friends of ours, who we met through our sons. They are 13 and 14 years old are so much alike that they could be brothers and are both really great kids. They also have a little girl that just turned one. She was wonderful during the trip and even enjoyed the Spirit of Aloha Luau, with us. But she is only one. And not thinking about her being with us, before we left, I made some late evening Dining Reservations at Le Cellier Steakhouse and ‘Ohana. This probably would have been a little bit of a problem (even as wonderful as she is) she probably would have started getting fussy after her bedtime. But there is an Unknown Magic that we used, well they used, which made our dinners great and still took care of the little one. This would be the Unknown Magic of the Babysitting service. Disney does not take care of this in house they use a company called Kid’s Nite Out.

Kid’s Nite Out offers two different services. They offer a service of Mother or Father’s Helper where one of their people will accompany your family throughout the day as you are in the parks and wherever else you go. They also offer the service our friends took advantage of, an In-room Babysitting Service. The rates aren’t bad- $16/hour with a 4 hour minimum. And all the sitters are over 18 and have been trained in CPR and first aid. And as they say on their website:

“Each caregiver is thoroughly assessed with an application process, interviews, background checks, and reference checks. Equally as prioritized, the caregiver must fully comprehend child safety, know what children like in order to have fun, and genuinely love children. Once approved, each caregiver goes through specialized Kid’s Nite Out training and Disney Orientation. All services are followed through with stringent security procedures.”

And as we discussed when we were there, Disney would not recommend anyone that would do anything to diminish their guests expriences, so they must do a good job.

Well they did do a great job. The first night they utilized the service, they found the sitter to be great. The baby was asleep 10 minutes after we left and there weren’t any problems. Our friends, who are very cautious parents, were so impressed that when we got back that night, they booked her for later in our trip also. It worked out wonderfully and made for Magical Experiences at both meals, as we didn’t have to cut anything short and no one had to worry about a fussy baby.
So, now you know, if you have a little one and you want an adults night out, you can have one by using the Unknown Magic of Kid’s Nite out come and babysit for you. This could create Magical Experiences for you and maybe the kids too!

The last couple of years, we’ve had an 17 game Phillies season ticket package. Whenever there would be a game that went into extra innings, as most of us would be upset about it, one of the guys that sat near us would always turn and say, “What are you upset about, we’re getting Free Baseball.” He was right, free extra stuff is always good. At Walt Disney World, Free and Extra are good also. For first time visitors, the Free and Extra may come as an Unknown Magic. For people that have visited Disney before you may be surprised about how Magical it can be. The Free Extra I’m talking about is the Extra Magic Hours, that Disney offers their Resort Guests.

Extra Magic Hours are presented both in the morning and the evening. The Extra Magic Hours are offered at every park and the Water parks. Only one park per day has Extra Magic morning Hours and only one Park per day has Extra Magic evening Hours. The morning and evening offering change every day. To take advantage of these Extra hours, you need a valid theme park ticket and Resort ID. And since you are staying at a Disney Resort, It is Free!

The Unknown part of this Magic that comes into play here is the fact that a lot of resort guests don’t know how wonderful it is to be in the park an hour early or a few hours later. Many think that it will not be any less crowded. This is a valid thought, considering that Disney’s Value Resorts have over 8,300 rooms themselves, you would think that the parks would still be pretty busy during these Extra Magic Hours. The thing is, there must be a lot of people that think like this, because whenever we have taken advantage of these extra hours, it has been much less crowded.

The Extra Magic morning Hours seem to have more takers than the evening hours, but I think that is because people want to say they were one of the first people in the park that day. I personally like the extra evening hours better. The only problem I have with the extra evening hours (And maybe It’s because I’m getting old) is, staying awake! For example, yesterday it was 90 degrees and humid in Walt Disney World. Disney Hollywood Studios was open until 9pm. The Disney resort guests could take advantage of 3 extra magic hours after the park closed. This made closing time midnight. If you got up and started your day at 9, and then spent the day in the sun, that my friends, is a long day. And that really isn’t that late. Later this month and early next month the Magic Kingdom is open until 11 or 12 at night and then they offer 3 more extra magic hours. Wow!
It is pretty awesome if you can do it to be in the park after midnight, because at that time, the park has very few visitors. But if you have plans to do this, you need to make sure you rest during the day of the late night and maybe not plan on an early start the next day. And just a word to the wise, Don’t try it with little ones. Your Extra Magic Hour will not turn into a Magical Experience, when they are asleep.

The Magical Experiences can come very easily though at the Extra Magic Hours. The attractions that usually have long lines, don’t. And to get back in line and take another ride, right after you just had one is awesome! When we were down a few years back, we went to the Extra Magic Hours in the Magic Kingdom one night and we rode Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin four straight times without a wait, Pretty Cool, although my son beat me in points every time. My favorite part of the Extra Magic Hours in the morning is that you can go to the park early and not have the crowds. This way, you can see the architecture and the landscaping and the all the details Disney puts into each aspect of the park, with crowds, you don’t get to see these wonderful things as much.

Another great thing about the Extra Magic Hours is the attractions that are open during these special times. The attractions in the Magic Kingdom include Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Splash Mountain along with others. In Epcot, Living With the Land, Mission Space, Soarin’, Spaceship Earth and Test Track are some of the offerings. At Hollywood Studios the attractions include Jim Henson’s Muppet Vision 3-D, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Star Tours ,Toy Story Mania, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, The Great Movie Ride and the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. At Animal Kingdom they offer Dinosaur, Expedition Everest,
It’s Tough To Be A Bug, Kilimanjaro Safaris and Pangani Forest Exploration Trail in the morning and all of these and others in the evening. If you notice, this list is what many Disney Guests might consider the E-ticket attractions or the most popular. This makes the Extra Magic Hour a little more special and can lead to more Magical Experiences.

So, now that you know, The Unknown Magic of an Extra Hour or an Extra few Hours is something that can lead to many Magical Experiences. So, get up early or stay out late, and enjoy your Free Extra Magic.
