Years ago, I went out with some friends to an Irish bar on St. Patrick’s Day. We were actually going for dinner and went kind of early, 5:30-6ish. When we got there the place was packed, of course. We asked to put our name on the list to get a seat and was told it would be about a 2 ½ hour wait. After about an hour we asked how much longer and we were told about 3 hours from then. We left and ended up at a Mexican chain restaurant for dinner on St. Patrick’s Day. It is one of those memories that I have that I chuckle at because it was just so, absurd. Although I like Ales and Lagers and even Stouts, I am not a big fan of drinking on St. Patrick’s Day. There are too many people that
overdo it. Even with that, there are a few places I would like to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day though. One is McGuire’s Irish Pub in Pensacola Florida. This great Irish Pub is a lot of fun without it being St. Patrick’s Day. The Other place is right in Downtown Disney. I wrote about it a few weeks ago, but with it being St. Patrick’s Day I thought it had to be talked about again. This place is Raglan Road. Located in Downtown Disney.

The following paragraphs are from my Article called “Taken from Ireland, Plonked Down in Orlando.”

Raglan Road is an authentic Irish Pub that as they say, has been Plonked down in Orlando Florida. There are a few bars throughout the restaurant for when it gets busy, a couple of Televisions, and plenty of tables. There are also areas where the Irish Dancers Perform and the house band plays. It is a rather large Pub, with its own gift shop and outdoor walk up window, as well as an outdoor seating area.

Of course this being an Irish Pub, we need to talk about the Drinks. The Beer that is being featured as of this writing is Guinness, Murphy’s Red Creamy Irish Ale, Smithwicks Irish Ale, Harp Irish Lager, Boddingtons’s Ale, Bass Ale, Stella Artios, Kronenbourg 1664, Tucher Hefeweiss, Strongbow Cider and Newcastle Brown Ale. They have many Irish Whiskey selections and Scotch Whiskey selections for your enjoyment. They also have a full complement of mixed drinks and cigars are available.
This is a great Irish Pub, where the house band, Tuskar Rocks, plays and Creel a trio along with Danielle Fitzpatrick, their Irish Dancer, entertains Monday through Saturday nights. It is a Raucous Rocking good time.

This is a wonderfully authentic Irish Pub, and it is a fun place to go and sing and laugh. I can only imagine how great it is on St. Patrick’s Day.

>Sorry there won’t be a regular blog today. We leave early in the Morning for New Jersey.
A good week, good times with friends and Family. Saw some things I will be blogging about and we did some new things that I will remember too.
We had Magical Experiences and found some new Unknown Magics to share with you all.

>How about a Magical Experience that has the kids, and Mom and Dad singing and laughing and enjoying great food? What if I tell you that this Disney Dinner show is an Unknown Magic that has been happening for over 35 years? Some of you may be saying “What?” others who have been to Walt Disney World a few times and have “given up” a night at a park, for dinner, will know that I’m talking about the Hoop Dee Doo Revue.

The Hoop Dee Doo Revue is performed three times nightly at Pioneer Hall
in the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. It is an old time, Wild West Show that features singing, dancing, and vaudeville type comedy. The troupe that performs this raucous dinner show is known as the Pioneer Hall Players. Claire de Lune, Johnny Ringo, Dolly Drew, Six Bits Slocum, Flora Long and Jim Handy perform different skits and sing early standards, and ask you to join from time to time.

I enjoyed the food as much as the show. Fresh Bread, Tossed Salad, Baked Beans, Home-style Fried Chicken, Smoked BBQ Pork Ribs, and Corn on the cob are followed by a delicious Strawberry Shortcake. Your beverage choices are Beer or Sangria, Unsweetened Iced Tea, Apple Juice, Milk, Tea, Coffee and assorted sodas. The waiters and waitresses aren’t only good, but they are part of the show. Our Waiter last time we went was named Dallas. Dallas was funny, entertaining, and made sure all 9 of us had a great time.

This is one of the few reservations on Disney property that requires a prepayment for making a reservation. There are also different seating prices. It is a three tiered system with tier one being closer to the stage, tier two is further back on the main floor and the back balcony. The side balcony seats are the third tier. When we went, we sat in the second tier, on the first floor and had no problem seeing the show or any of the action.

The one other thing you need to know about the Hoop Dee Do Revue is that you need to check in approximately 40 minutes before the show, and there is no transportation right to the front door. You have to go to the main parking lot of the Fort Wilderness Campground, and then take a bus to Pioneer Hall. Or you could take a boat from the Magic Kingdom or any of the Magic Kingdom Resorts. This is something that needs to be planned for.

The Hoop Dee Do Revue is a wonderfully Magical Experience for the entire family. The kids will get a kick out of the corny humor and during the finale they will be involved in the salute to Davy Crocket. For Adults, if you are celebrating an Anniversary, Birthday, or are there on your Honeymoon, be prepared to be included in the show. Our family loved the show; even with three young teens (my son and his cousins) we all had a great time.

So, now you know, you can “give up” a night at the park and still enjoy a fun Magical Experience. You’ll get a good meal with a good show and when you leave, I’ll bet you’re still humming the song!
