A lot of times when we are in Walt Disney World, we start with an Extra Magic Hour in the Morning or a Breakfast and then head to a park. After a while, we leave the park to get out of the sun, away from the crowds or to get lunch. For whatever reason, we don’t seem to spend all day in one park. It works for us, since we are lucky enough to travel to Disney World every year or so. But even if you are not able to get to Disney World as much as we do, I recommend taking a break from the parks during the day. Some people may disagree and see this as wasting the day, but if you look at some of the things we do, they definitely are not just wasted time. So, today I present to you the Unknown Magic of “Wasting” Time in Disney.

Most of the time when we are “Wasting” time in Disney, we have left whichever park we were in, to go back to the Resort and relax for a little while. The resorts offer such great places to have Magical Experiences while “Wasting” your time. The most obvious place to “Waste” time at the resort is in the pool. The Resort Pools are incredible. From the Clown Faced slide at the Boardwalk Resort to the Dragon Slide at Port Orleans French Quarter, the pools offer a great place to play and enjoy some family time. The Pool Bars are also a nice place for the adults to hang out as the kids are swimming nearby.

Another place to “Waste” your time at the Resort is in the Lobby Area. The lobby areas of the resorts are awesome. They not only offer great décor, but they also offer great places to sit and watch people. Most of the lobbies are very large, but they all seem to have very comfortable seating that makes them feel cozy. While you are there find the television that is showing the Classic Disney Cartoons on it, every lobby has one.

A place that all the resorts offer to “Waste” time in is the Arcade. Each of the Resorts have an Arcade and although they aren’t very big, they can provide that video game fix that the kids (or adults) may need after going cold turkey from their gaming systems. The arcades aren’t far from the lobby area and all run on a card system. This is a great place for the kids to “Waste” some time and to have some me time that they may need after being in the crowds and rushing around the parks.

One of the most awesome places to “Waste” some time at the Resort is on the Beach. Not all of the resorts have a beach, but a lot of them do. The beaches are white sanded and clean, but you can’t swim in the lakes that they surround. This means there will not be a whole lot of people on them, so you can enjoy sunning yourself without a lot of noise or commotion. This also means you can enjoy a good book or even one of those trashy romance novels while “Wasting” some time.

One of the most fun, but dangerous ways to “Waste” your time is window shopping throughout the Resort Area. The reason this could be dangerous is because, at all of the Resorts there are Merchandise shops that sell not only toiletries, essentials and food, but Disney World Merchandise and Resort Themed items. This means that even if you aren’t in a park, you could possibly spend quite a bit of money. In the Polynesian Resort and over at the Boardwalk Resort, they also have the Wyland Gallery. These are really cool Art Galleries that offer not only Wyland Pictures, but sculptures and artworks by other artists. We spent quite a bit of time in the Wyland Gallery on the boardwalk during our last trip and they had some great pieces for sale. I was surprised that the pieces were much more affordable than I thought they would be. Of course they were still out of our price range, but they were more affordable than I thought they would be.

So, now you know, there are some great things you can do to “Waste” time when you are not in the parks. So, take the time to leave the park and “Waste” some time on your next visit to Walt Disney World and create a Magical Experience for your family.
