The last couple of years, we’ve had an 17 game Phillies season ticket package. Whenever there would be a game that went into extra innings, as most of us would be upset about it, one of the guys that sat near us would always turn and say, “What are you upset about, we’re getting Free Baseball.” He was right, free extra stuff is always good. At Walt Disney World, Free and Extra are good also. For first time visitors, the Free and Extra may come as an Unknown Magic. For people that have visited Disney before you may be surprised about how Magical it can be. The Free Extra I’m talking about is the Extra Magic Hours, that Disney offers their Resort Guests.
Extra Magic Hours are presented both in the morning and the evening. The Extra Magic Hours are offered at every park and the Water parks. Only one park per day has Extra Magic morning Hours and only one Park per day has Extra Magic evening Hours. The morning and evening offering change every day. To take advantage of these Extra hours, you need a valid theme park ticket and Resort ID. And since you are staying at a Disney Resort, It is Free!
The Unknown part of this Magic that comes into play here is the fact that a lot of resort guests don’t know how wonderful it is to be in the park an hour early or a few hours later. Many think that it will not be any less crowded. This is a valid thought, considering that Disney’s Value Resorts have over 8,300 rooms themselves, you would think that the parks would still be pretty busy during these Extra Magic Hours. The thing is, there must be a lot of people that think like this, because whenever we have taken advantage of these extra hours, it has been much less crowded.
The Magical Experiences can come very easily though at the Extra Magic Hours. The attractions that usually have long lines, don’t. And to get back in line and take another ride, right after you just had one is awesome! When we were down a few years back, we went to the Extra Magic Hours in the Magic Kingdom one night and we rode Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin four straight times without a wait, Pretty Cool, although my son beat me in points every time. My favorite part of the Extra Magic Hours in the morning is that you can go to the park early and not have the crowds. This way, you can see the architecture and the landscaping and the all the details Disney puts into each aspect of the park, with crowds, you don’t get to see these wonderful things as much.
So, now that you know, The Unknown Magic of an Extra Hour or an Extra few Hours is something that can lead to many Magical Experiences. So, get up early or stay out late, and enjoy your Free Extra Magic.
