Over the past few Mondays, I’ve talked about how great Walt Disney World is during the holidays. The Resorts are all decorated and the parks are aglow in Holiday splendor. Even if the weather is warmer, you get the feeling that a White Christmas is possible and that you need hot cocoa and a cookie. Besides Santa being in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot celebrating Christmas around the world, all of the Parks have special events that help to enhance your Magical Experiences. Today’s Unknown Magics are these Special Activities that take place through December in the Parks for Christmas.
Disney Hollywood Studios celebrates the Holidays as if they were in Arkansas. It all started when Jennings Osborne and his family decorated their house. The display got bigger and bigger and in 1995, they agreed to have Disney Hollywood Studios become the home for their display so that more people could enjoy the spectacular lights. So, now The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is presented nightly and is an amazing thing to see. Over in the Animal Kingdom around the Holidays, Mickey’s Jingle Jangle Parade takes the place of the Jungle Jammin’ Parade. This new Parade has the different characters and floats decorated for Christmas, with special music played throughout the parade route.
In Epcot, the Magic Experiences go beyond the stories and the presentations of how Christmas gifts are delivered and by whom. In the American Pavilion in the World Showcase, there is a very large gingerbread house that is on display in the Liberty Inn. This gingerbread house is big enough to rival the one in the Grand Floridian Resort. But this isn’t the only thing that is amazing around Christmas in the American Pavilion. The Candlelight Processional which is held nightly at the American Gardens Theatre is awe inspiring. This wondrous program which is held nightly from late November until December 30th, presents the Christmas story. It is retold by a guest celebrity narrator, (who changes throughout the season) a 50 piece orchestra and a community Choir. This is a moving uplifting show that is amazing to witness. Disney offers Lunch and Dinner Candlelight Dinner Packages. These packages guarantee you a seat and run between $33.00-$52.00 for lunch and $47.00-$62.00 for dinner. This is one of the events that if you are in Disney during December, you should make it a point to see. It is a Magical Experience all by itself.
So, now you know, the Walt Disney World Resort offers great Magical Experiences for the Holiday Season. From the Decorations in the Resorts and the wonderful trees in all the parks, to the Magical Events that help you to celebrate the Holidays, Disney has made the Happiest Place on Earth into a Winter Wonderland. If you get the chance to visit Disney World during this time, I highly recommend it.
*I did not use pictures from the events or of the decorations for these special events, because I did not want to take away from the Magic if you get the chance to enjoy them.
